The team donned their posh frocks for another awards night at this year's Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce Awards on March 20th.
We were shortlisted in the Employer of the Year category, along with two other businesses – Reflect Digital and Bedfont Scientific.
Reflect Digital were the winners but look at the trophy we brought home – we love it!
Well done to everyone – we had a great night meeting you all.
MD Ann said: “To be a finalist in the Employer of the Year Category means so much to me. One of the reasons I started Total Accounting Kent was because I couldn't find a suitable job which allowed me to do the work that I love but allowing the flexibility to fit in around my young family. There were very few jobs available with flexible hours, let alone in accountancy. I still find that most employers expect their staff to work 9-5, which just doesn't work for some people. It's so wonderful to be able to now offer this opportunity to my staff.
Whilst skills are important, and my staff are all qualified, I believe that attitude and personality are paramount. Additional skills can be taught, but a bad attitude is there to stay. When we recruit, we look for someone who will be a good fit for the team, and someone who shares our values.
My team are amazing – they work hard, we look after each other and there is a culture of mutual respect and understanding. The team are not difficult to manage and I trust them all completely. It's very important to me that my staff are happy and feel valued, and I know from personal experience how great it feels when someone tells you that you've done a great job.
To have my commitment to being a great employer recognised is fantastic.”
